Considered the most famous resort in Cuba, the open landscape, warm weather, the water of the sea and the fine sandy Varadero make an unforgettable and unique destination. Located on the Hicacos Peninsula, Varadero is the main square of sun and beach in Cuba. It extends 22 km along. Free Port has three international marinas. The famous spa originated May 1st December 1887, when a group of ten families decided to settle there. With the largest hotel chain in the country and a very large non-hotel Varadero beach becomes a very important value as a tourist destination not only in Cuba but also in the Caribbean. In its vicinity is the only underwater park in the country: Cayo Piedras del Norte. Diving, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins; rides in a submarine lookout; horseback riding to archaeological sites, are part of the varied recreational options in the region.
